2014: growth[period] recently supported the Children’s National Medical Center, the only health system designed specifically for kids in the DC region. The Children’s National Medical Center has been serving and advocating for children for over 140 years, and treats over 300,000 patients from around the world each year. It has consistently ranked among the top pediatric hospitals in America, and has been recognized for its expertise and innovation in pediatric care.
April 2014: growth[period] was pleased to have the opportunity to attend the 4th Annual Tom McHale Memorial to benefit the Sports Legacy Institute, honoring those who have contributed to safer sports by helping to fund research, education, and prevention of traumatic brain injuries. The SLI is a non-profit organization dedicated to solving the concussion crisis in sports and military through medical research, treatment, education, and prevention, and works closely with the Boston University School of Medicine to support this goal.
April 2014: growth[period] recently supported Special Olympics Chicago, part of the world’s largest program for sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Chicago is supported by the Special Children’s Charities, which works to promote, foster, and encourage physical and mental health for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and provides-year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports. Since it’s 1968 launch in Soldier Field, Special Olympics Chicago has served over 5,000 athletes and offered training and competition in 22 sports.
March 2015: growth[period] is proud to announce our support for the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to advancing community partnerships that improve the lives of children and families throughout the Washington Capital Region. The Dream Foundation has partnered with the DC Government to build the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, which teaches children in the region the fundamentals of baseball and provides after-school educational programs, and with the Children’s National Medical Center to build a Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex. The organization is dedicated to advocating baseball and providing education, health, and recreation resources for DC children.
March 2015: growth[period] is honored to support the US Holocaust Museum in its mission to inspire people around the world to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity. This living memorial to the Holocaust was established in the heart of Washington, D.C. in 1993, and has since welcomed over 38 million visitors from across the globe. Donations to the museum are used to preserve historical artifacts, expand educational outreach, and advance efforts to prevent genocide.
March 2015: growth[period] is proud to announce our support of the Girl Scouts National Troop, the largest organization for girls in the world. Girl Scouts of the USA works to build courage, confidence, and character while providing opportunities for fun and friendship, and helps girls develop their leadership potential and self-esteem. Additionally, the Girl Scouts advocate and raise awareness on issues important to girls and young women, such as encouraging healthy living opportunities, fostering global citizenship, and promoting economic opportunities.
November 18, 2009: NSAWW’s CEO Courtney Banks talks about her principles and experiences running a small business at Washington Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” Dinner and Awards Ceremony. She was recognized as a “Rising Star” for her work growing NSAWW.
The annual “Women Who Mean Business” dinner recognizes the region’s most influential women, and the nominees represent women from every industry and profession who have made a difference in their communities.
April 22, 2010: The Hope for the Warriors’ First Annual Black Tie “Got Heart, Give Hope” Gala and “Hope & Courage” Award Ceremony took place on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Union Station in Washington, D.C. The event honored U.S. military heroes and their families and raised over $200,000 in support of the Hope for the Warriors’ mission, which is a “promise that the sacrifices of the wounded across military service branches and throughout the nation will not be forgotten, nor their needs unmet.” Actor Gary Sinese and philanthropist and businessman Kenneth Fisher of the Fisher House Foundation served as guest speakers and presenters. growth[period] participated as the sole Presenting Sponsor, and donated immeasurable time and energy in the months prior to the event, with growth[period] CEO Courtney Banks serving as a highly active gala committee member and COO Kate Pickworth directing a team of three growth[period] staff for the planning of the gala and silent auction.
May 7, 2010: The 8th Annual Robert Rafter Memorial Golf Tournament was held by the United States Secret Service Employee Recreation Association on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. The event is held yearly to support the wife and five school-age children of Robert Rafter, a ten-year employee of the U.S. Secret Service who died suddenly on September 12th, 2002 at the age of 42. To date, the Rafter Children’s Fund has raised over $220,000 and assists the family with yearly tuition and day to day concerns. growth[period] has sponsored the tournament every year since our founding, and this year we continued in our support by purchasing the Elite Hole Sponsorship, the highest sponsorship offered for the fund’s 8th annual golf tournament. growth[period] fielded two foursomes, one of which took first place on their course! growth[period] also supported three clients who sponsored and participated in the event.
September 24, 2010: The 3rd Annual Trusant Eagle Classic Golf Tournament took place on Friday, September 24, 2010 at The Links at Challedon Golf Course in Mt. Airy, Maryland, to raise proceeds for the Fisher House organization. growth[period] registered a foursome to support the Tournament. Last year, the Trusant Eagle Classic raised over $35,000 for the Fisher House, which donates “comfort homes” on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes provide military families with proximity and access to their loved ones who have been hospitalized for wounds, illness, disease, or other injuries.
