NSAWW CEO to Accept "Angel” Outreach Award Tomorrow

March 2014: NSAWW is proud to announce that Chief Executive Officer, Courtney Banks Spaeth has been selected by the Business and Professional Women’s Foundation to receive the 2014 Joining Forces Mentoring Plus "Angel” Outreach Award in honor of her significant efforts to raise awareness and cultivate support for the Joining Forces Mentoring Plus program through her personal and professional networks.

The ceremony, which will take place on March 18th at the U.S. Navy Memorial, is part of the BPW Foundation’s Women’s History Month Celebration and will feature First Lady Michelle Obama as the honorary chair and NBC4’s Erika Gonzalez as the moderator. Alliant Credit Union, Booz Allen Hamilton, and BPW North Carolina will be honored alongside Mrs. Spaeth in recognition of their own contributions to the Joining Forces Mentoring Plus program. The ceremony will also feature two career development panels focusing on social media and other valuable tools in the civilian workplace, and will be followed by a networking and awards reception.

NSAWW Welcomes Rear Admiral Steven Branham (Ret.) as Principal

March 2014: Rear Admiral Branham joins NSAWW after a nearly forty year career with the United States Coast Guard in various executive positions. Prior to joining NSAWW, Rear Admiral Branham was most recently the Vice President of Government Relations at Witt O’Brien’s where he was responsible for relationship building and maintenance across a broad spectrum of federal and state agencies to raise awareness of the company’s products and services. Previous to this, Rear Admiral Branham was Executive Vice President for Government Services at O’Brien’s Response Management where he led his division to a much higher state of readiness, training, and capability to ensure timely and accurate assistance to regions, states and communities in dealing with the impacts of Hurricanes Isaac & Sandy, Tropical Storms Irene & Debby, and major ice storms in Massachusetts.

NSAWW Welcomes James L. Kwolek to Board of Advisors

February 2014: Mr. Kwolek joins NSAWW after a long and distinguished career with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the Department of Defense bringing extensive geospatial intelligence, program management, acquisition and budget expertise.

Previously, Mr. Kwolek served over three decades with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and its predecessor agencies, retiring as a Senior Executive. His most recent assignment with that agency was as the Deputy Director, NGA Defense-Pentagon where he developed strategic plans transitioning customers from hardcopy and media to a digital environment for combat support, intelligence, and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief. Prior to Deputy Director , Mr. Kwolek was the Interim Deputy Chief Information Officer for the NGA where he served as Geospatial Information Executive representing the DoD and NGA on Geospatial issues and was responsible for leading IT Strategic Planning, IT Policy development, IT budget, and Cyber Defense. He also held a two year Federal advisory position with National Geospatial Advisory Committee for Department of Interior Director.

NSAWW Welcomes Michael J. Bergeron to Board of Advisors

January 2014: Mr. Bergeron joins NSAWW after a long and distinguished career in the intelligence community bringing extensive program management and budgetary formulation expertise as well as a great deal of leadership acumen and IT executive experience.

Previously, Mr. Bergeron served as a Vice President at Altamira Corporation, where he oversaw the merger of two predecessor companies, Invertix and Near Infinity, into a single unit. Before joining Altamira Corporation Mr. Bergeron held several senior positions at the CIA, first as Chief of Ground Systems Contracts Teams, then as Chief of Agency IT Acquisition Strategy, and finally as Chief/Deputy Chief of DS/Non-Traditional Support. While at the CIA he worked on numerous projects to enhance officer profiles and to reduce costs and administrative burdens for overseas officers. Additionally, he pioneered the application of Alpha Contracting for the National Reconnaissance Office and was responsible for creating and managing a cohesive team of Air Force, CIA, DoD civilian and Naval officers, the largest contracting team at the NRO.

January 2014: Mr. Baker retired in 2013 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In his ten years with NOAA he served in three executive positions; as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer for NOAA Satellites, as their Deputy Assistant Administrator for Satellite and Information Services, and as NOAA's Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Operations. He managed a diverse portfolio that included satellite operations, climate services, satellite meteorology research, information technology, environmental data archiving, human capital, acquisition strategies, budget and finance, infrastructure, strategic planning, performance measurement, space policy, international collaboration, space commerce, emergency response, and continuity of government services.
