NSAWW Welcomes Charles Baker to Board of Advisors

January 2014: Mr. Baker retired in 2013 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In his ten years with NOAA he served in three executive positions; as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer for NOAA Satellites, as their Deputy Assistant Administrator for Satellite and Information Services, and as NOAA's Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Operations. He managed a diverse portfolio that included satellite operations, climate services, satellite meteorology research, information technology, environmental data archiving, human capital, acquisition strategies, budget and finance, infrastructure, strategic planning, performance measurement, space policy, international collaboration, space commerce, emergency response, and continuity of government services.

Prior to NOAA, Mr. Baker served for thirty years at the Department of Defense (DoD), in the Department of the Navy and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. His primary responsibilities at the DoD related to program management, budget formulation and execution, acquisition planning, and program analysis and evaluation. From 2000 to 2004, he served as Associate Director for Investment in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller).
