January 2015: growth[period] is pleased to welcome Mark Day to our Strategic Client Advisor board! Mr. Day recently retired from the General Services Administration (GSA), where he was the Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Integrated Technology Service (ITS), and he has over 30 years of experience managing large, complex organizations in both the public and private sectors. He brings a wide range of experience successfully leading IT operations, policy, and security, as well as a deep knowledge of acquisition strategy and organizational improvement, and we are confident he will be a valuable addition to our board.
Prior to joining growth[period], Mr. Day served as the Deputy Assistant Commissioner, ITS for the GSA, where he was responsible for leading organizational change, improving resource utilization, and raising project performance. As Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Day served at the COO for ITS, and raised ROI by over 60%. Before accepting the position at GSA, Mr. Day was the CTO at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), during which time he developed the HUDNET acquisition strategy for HUD’s overall IT infrastructure and assisted in the development of new CIO organization. Mr. Day has also held positions in the private sector: he was an Adjunct Professor for George Mason University’s MPA program and the CTO and Vice President at McDonald Bradley, Inc. and ManTech International.
