March 2015: growth[period] is proud to welcome Dr. Daniel Gerstein, a member of the RAND Corporation and former Under Secretary (Acting) and Deputy Under Secretary for Science and Technology for the Department of Homeland Security, to our board of Strategic Client Advisors. Dr. Gerstein is an expert in counterterrorism, cybersecurity, strategic planning, and security and defense policy, and he will be a valuable addition to our team. Dr. Gerstein began his career with the U.S. Army, where he served on four continents and led the Army’s most comprehensive restructuring since World War II. He participated in combat operations, peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, and homeland security, and established a major cybersecurity center for Joint and Army commands after 9/11. Dr. Gerstein took on a number of high-level staff assignments at the Pentagon, including Director of the Army Transformation Office. He has also held senior-level positions at L-3 Communications, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Council on Foreign Relations. Dr. Gerstein has received a number of civilian, military, and international awards for his service, including the Soldier’s Medal for heroism, and is an accomplished author. His wealth of knowledge in the areas of foreign policy, security, international negotiations, and information technology, as well as his experience in both the Defense and Civilian arenas, have made him a sought-after public speaker, and growth. is pleased to have him join our team.
