April 2017: growth[period] is proud to announce our support for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign, a spirited annual fundraising campaign in communities across the US in which participants create teams to compete for the title of Man or Woman of the Year. The titles are then awarded to the man and woman in each community who raises the most funds during the ten-week competition period, with the top local winners becoming eligible for a national title. Funds raised through this friendly competition are invested in research to advance breakthrough therapies to treat blood cancer, to support patients in the local communities, and to fund blood cancer education and support.
Through annual events like the MWOY campaign, LLS has raised over $1 billion to invest in research, education, and support. LLS is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding research, finding cures, and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients. The organization has over 300 active research projects exploring different treatement avenues and partners with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, patients support services, and advocates in order to support blood cancer patients around the world.
